Thirty years ago, there was one main way customers found the businesses they needed – the Yellow Pages. Today though, thick phone books have become a thing of the past and in their place, online searches have stepped in. When they do, businesses can make it easier for customers to find them by using local SEO (search engine optimization).

Local SEO is a way to get local Portland customers to your business simply by using a few strategic, and local, keywords. And just as those phone books of the past helped customers to find you, so will including your business’ location in anything you do online.

When a customer is searching for a product, service, or business, they do so using online search engines. And when they do, they most often include a location in their search. So when you create a website, blog, or even a profile in an online directory using your location as a strategic keyword, your page will match up with the words the customer used in their search. They’ll be shown your page or profile, and the customer will click on the link.

Once they do, they’ll learn more about your business and more importantly, that you have the products or services they need. Their search is done because they have found what they’re looking for. And you? You have more customers simply because you’ve included your location in your online presence. It’s really as easy as that.

Local SEO should be something every single Portland area business utilizes, for many reasons. But the number one reason to use it is simply because it makes customers easier to find you and therefore, brings more customers into your business. And all you have to do is include your location in anything you do online!

Increase Organic Search Results

There are hundreds of search engines out there, but of all them, Google reigns supreme. And it seems as though that’s not going to change any time soon. So, when business owners are trying to rank high in the search engines, they must adhere to Google’s guidelines and algorithms. One way you, as a business owner, can do that is by using local SEO in Portland.

Local SEO can be as simple as inserting your location (like Oregon City, Beaverton, or St John’s for example) as a keyword in any blog, website page, online directory, or anything else that you publish online. In 2017, Google included location keywords as part of its algorithms to determine page ranking, or how high a website or page ranks in the listing Google returns to Internet users. When a business uses their location, they automatically rank higher than those that don’t, which means that if you include them, you’re going to rank higher in Google than your competitors that may not.

As a business owner, you’ve probably tried many different methods and strategies to rank higher in Google and the other search engines. And while paying for ads and other SEO strategies can be a great way to do this, simply including your location has proven to be the best way of all. It can greatly increase your page ranking and therefore, make it easier for customers to find you. And that’s all any business owner wants.

If you’ve been looking for ways to increase your organic search results and make it to the top of the search engine’s listings, using local SEO is particularly effective. Start including your location in everything you do online today, and just see the immediate results it brings!

Local SEO is Free and Easy to Use!

There are many ways today that you can market your business. All of those ways generally have one thing in common: they all cost money. And in many cases, they cost a lot of money. But there is one way to market your business, a very effective way, that doesn’t cost any money at all. Plus, it’s very simple to use. That way is by incorporating local SEO into all your online marketing.

It’s true. Local SEO doesn’t cost a thing. All it requires is that you simply add your geographic location to any keywords you use in your online marketing. This includes on your blog, on your website, in any paid ads you use, and of course, in online directories (which will require it anyway). It will only cost you as much as it costs to publish a blog post – which is nothing.

Not only is it free, it’s also incredibly easy to use. Just use your city name (like Wilsonville or Gresham for example) as one of your keywords when making those online publications. So, if you run a florist, “florist” would already be one of your keywords. When incorporating local SEO strategies however, you would simply insert your city before the word florist. So “florist” could be used, but you would also use “New York florist,” or whatever your location is. It really is that easy.

What other form of marketing can you use that costs your business absolutely nothing and is one of the simplest tools to employ? Other than local SEO, there are very few. So now you can get more business and make more revenue just by using your location in online publications. And what business wouldn’t want to reap those benefits?

How to Reach Local Customers Using SEO

It’s no secret that using local SEO is the new Yellow Pages. It’s the way consumers find the businesses they’re searching for. And just by incorporating your city into anything you do online, you can make it even easier for them to find you. But, this no longer applies to simply expecting them to find you on their desktop at home, remembering the information, and then finding you the next time they’re out.

Today, local SEO becomes even more important because the world is going mobile. And by incorporating local SEO into anything you do online, now customers that are just around the corner can find your business while they’re already in the neighborhood.

In 2018, 52.2 percent of all online traffic was generated through mobile phones, up from 50.3 percent the year before.

Clearly the use of mobile phones is only going up, and that’s not going to change any time soon. While many of those people are searching on their mobile phones while they’re at home, even more of them are searching while they’re out. When they are, they are searching for businesses, perhaps your business that’s just down the street!

Once they find it, they’re likely to go to the business and make a purchase. So now, not only can you reach the customers that are at home searching for your business, but also those that are already out and ready to buy. That’s the difference that comes with local SEO. Not only can you reach a small percentage of your customers that are searching at home, you can reach each and every single one of them. What other kind of marketing can promise that?

Turn Searches into Purchases with Local SEO

Getting organic traffic from search engines is great. But as a business owner, you likely want more than just people visiting your website. You also want them to come to your business and make a purchase. And local SEO is just the way to do it.

According to a survey by Go-Globe, 78 percent of local mobile searches result in a purchase within a day.

There are plenty of other studies to back that number up, as well. It’s clear that when customers make a local search using a geographical location and a business, product, or service they’re looking for, that search often results in the user actually buying something. Isn’t that what every business owner wants?

Yes, just by incorporating geographical locations into your searches, you can turn someone who’s just searching for what your business offers into actual customers. And, after they’ve made their purchase and are happy with it, they may even just turn into regular customers that come to your business all the time.

Local SEO has many benefits. It can increase your page ranking in the search engine, therefore increasing traffic to your website. But other than building awareness for your business and looking good in the eyes of Google, it can also get you actual, real customers. And that in turn, of course translates into more profits for your business. It’s amazing that something so simple, and free, could generate such great results for your business!
